The chassis and transmission of the tractor belonged to Rod Horst and was originally a part of the Black Sheep Squadron Pro Stock Cases out of Indiana. Don and Curt Battrell purchased the tractor and ran 70 series sheet metal on it in the OSTPA Pro Stock Division and later as an alcohol Super Stock. During the fall of 2004, the Battrells' decided to go with a component chassis in their super stock.Eric purchased the chassis and started building the American Engine-uity tractor in the winter of 2004/2005. The 2005 season was one for learning. The 2290 sheet metal came from Missouri, the engine was 550 cubic inch out of Brooks' Hot Farm 1070 and the tires were the single cut, Firestone Ag tires. After the 2005 season, Eric began working with Gene's Machine Shop in Alexandria, KY. Gene's Machine did machine work and Eric assembled the new 615 cubic inch motor. The new set up debuted in 2006. This new set up consisted of a 615 cubic inch motor, double cut tires, a Turbonetics turbo and a RPM data logger. This set up was ran from 2006-2008. In 2009, Eric took the engine to Scheid Diesel to be dynoed. After putting 18 runs on the engine in one day, he found a configeration that would increase horsepower. In addition to that configeration, he added the new Precision turbo. The tractor is making approximately 1100 horsepower. Currently, the tractor is running a 640 cubic inch motor, and Precision turbo with the Puller 2000 tires. Plans are being made for some upgrades during the 2012 season. |
